I recently created The Powder Coating Web Portal. When I mentioned it to one of my clients, I suddenly realized that my interest in coatings, metals, paints, polymers, and nature are from my early childhood. Details about the services I offer to individuals, trade associations and companies are included in my recent Press Release and at my web site at
http://www.raskinfo.comSome of my earliest memories are walking with my aunt in the Black Forest. Next came a surreal stay in a Displaced Person's Camp where I longed for the freedom and privacy of the forest that I knew so well and loved so much.
My paternal grandfather, who died before I was born, insisted that his children, no matter what their chosen profession, learn the skill of metalworking. My grandfather created the stained glass windows in many of the churches and temples throughout Europe, Coats of Armour, and many other items made of metal. My father took us to a metal working factory as children where we would see brass planters and other brass items being made. We watched the Society of Metals build a structure and studied the mineral and metals in the area.
My father taught me how to paint the bricks on a house, as well as the exterior and interior of a house. He took me along when he purchased paint, invented a paint mixer and must be the reason I am interested in architectural coatings and product finishing.
It is most interesting how one's interests are linked to what one was exposed to as a young child. I love reading journal articles on polymers, liquid coatings, powder coatings and paints.
My father painted a three-story house without ever using a ladder. He set up a series of pulleys and long bamboo poles that he would move to paint every shingle of the house. He did the house in two colors, the upper color was a dark green and lower color was a beige. When my younger sister and I painted the bricks in a reddish tone, and the grout around each brick, the entire house looked as if it was newly built rather than being at least 60 or more years old at the time.
I seem to be interested in wallpaper and remember removing wallpaper from the attic rooms. I became to comfortable with the rooms in the attic that I overcame my fear of heights and retrieved items that landed on the roof by crawling out an attic window.
I wish I had watched my father more closely and diagrammed a schematic of his painting system for multiple story homes for those afraid of heights or those that feel insecure in climbing a ladder. He once imported items and the quality was far from perfect. I now understand the problems with the coatings on the metal items my father imported so long ago.
I try to help others find solutions to problems, provide research in anticipation of their needs, and brain storm and conduct in-depth research on innovative product development.
My paternal grandmother was most interested in sterile technique, and that was of interest to me in the field of microbiology and biotechnology, performing plant and animal cell culture. My father loved trees and gardening. I responded with an interest in heirloom plants.
My maternal grandfather managed a hotel, was a gourmet cook and a biologist at heart. The natural sciences, chemical, and physical sciences, along with business research, are important to me.
I would love to participate in the creation of the innovative, safe, and useful products for future generations as expressed in my web site at
