I picked two loads of cherries from the cherry tree we planted at my Mom's house in 2000. I made two pies this year and left a pie-load of cherries on the tree for the birds. Mom's yard also has an apple tree. I can not help but think of the wonderful times the next family will have in Mom's yard.
Mom loved the pies, still enjoys sitting in her yard, or visiting with her most wonderful neighbors, as do I.
The park-like, treed backyard is wonderful as is the back porch for lemonade.
My supply of sage for Thanksgiving dinner comes from Mom's sage bush each year in the perennial herb garden I created for her. The sage is a beautiful bush with purple flowers.
The holly in the front yard was planted by loving neighbors, the Mountain Laurel blooms full and light pink each spring followed by a huge and beautiful hydrangea.
The Rose of Sharon come in all colors and when few things are blooming in the heat of winter, they add much color and fun to the landscape.
